YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts receives $100,000 from the philanthropic arm of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, Point32Health Foundation

New Bedford March 2, 2026 – YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts, an organization that eliminates racism and empowers women, received a $100,000 grant from Point32Health Foundation. The funds support coalitions and organizations that advance community-led initiatives to drive civic engagement and improve health outcomes.

“This investment allows us to assume strategic leadership of the Health Equity Community of Practice (HECoP), ensuring that community-driven priorities like mental health access and language justice remain at the forefront of New Bedford’s policy agenda,” said Gail Fortes, Executive Director at YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts. “By aligning our collective efforts with the city’s health improvement plans, we are building a sustainable foundation for long-term systems change and empowered local leadership.”

This grant is one of 24 new investments totaling $1.8 million from the philanthropic arm of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, Point32Health Foundation.

“These investments strengthen organizations that lead with community voices and priorities,” said Kristin Lewis, president of the Point32Health Foundation and executive vice president of Point32Health. “By investing in their missions, we can help create lasting, transformative change across the communities we serve.”
