Honoring Juneteenth Through Reflection and Action: Join the Workplace Equity Assessment

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing pursuit of equity, justice, and opportunity for all. It is a time for deep reflection on our history, and a call to take measurable, impactful action toward a more fair society.
True equity must be actively cultivated where we spend a massive portion of our lives: at work.
In recognition of Juneteenth, YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts is officially inviting organizations and employees throughout our region to participate in a vital initiative: the Workplace Equity Assessment.
What is the Workplace Equity Assessment?
The Workplace Equity Assessment is designed to help local institutions take an honest look in the mirror. It provides a structured framework to examine:
-
Workplace Culture: Are environments truly welcoming, or do hidden biases persist?
-
Representation: Does your staff and leadership reflect the diversity of our broader community?
-
Inclusion: Do all employees feel valued and empowered to contribute?
-
Organizational Commitment to Equity: Are your internal policies aligned with the values of justice and fair opportunity?
Together, we can better understand the unique strengths, challenges, and opportunities that exist within our regional workplaces. The ultimate goal is to identify concrete, meaningful steps toward creating environments where every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and belonging.
Why Should Your Organization Participate?
When your organization joins this initiative, you aren’t just filling out a questionnaire—you are actively contributing to a larger movement for regional progress. By participating, you will:
-
Contribute to a regional snapshot of workplace equity: Help us map out where Southeastern Massachusetts stands and where we need to go.
-
Help identify opportunities for positive systems change: Pinpoint exactly where policies can be modernized to better support your workforce.
-
Support the creation of more inclusive and equitable workplaces: Gain the insights needed to foster a healthier, more collaborative environment.
-
Advance the values of justice, dignity, and opportunity for all: Put your organization’s core values into practice.
Join the Pledge Today
This Juneteenth, let’s move beyond statements and commitments. Let’s look at the data, engage in honest reflection, and drive real organizational change.
